How we work, written down
This is the plain-English version of how a project with us runs. Before any paid work starts you get a short written agreement by email that says the same things with your name and your price on it, and that agreement is the one that counts.
Prices
The build packages and management plans on the pricing page cost what they say. If your job needs something that isn't in a package, we email you a fixed price for it before we start and you can say no. We don't bill by the hour and we don't add things to the invoice you didn't agree to.
Paying
Builds are half up front and half when the site goes live. Management plans are billed monthly, in advance, from the day they start. Card, PayPal or bank transfer. If the second half of a build isn't paid, the site stays on our preview address until it is.
Timelines
The timeline on each package starts the day your photos and text reach us, not the day you pay. If we're going to miss a date you'll get an email before the date, not after. If we can't finish a build because content never arrives, we'll hold the project for three months and then close it; what's been paid covers the work done to that point.
Revisions and changes
Each build includes the number of revision rounds listed on its package. A revision round is you sending one set of notes and us working through them. Something bigger than notes, like a new page or a feature that wasn't in the brief, gets quoted as an add-on first. On management plans, a change is roughly half an hour of work; what counts is spelled out on the pricing page, and unused changes don't roll over.
What you send us
Photos, text, logos and anything else you give us to put on the site need to be yours to use. If something is copied from somewhere, that's on you, not us. We'll tell you if something looks like it might be a problem.
Who owns what
You do. The domain is registered in your name, the hosting account is in your name, and when the site is finished and paid for, the files are yours. We'd like to show the finished site on our portfolio page with a link to it; if you'd rather we didn't, say so and we won't.
Other people's services
Domains, hosting, payment processors, booking tools and email services have their own terms and their own fees, and those are paid by you, to them, in your name. We'll set them up and show you where everything is, but we don't control them and can't promise they'll never change.
If you stop
Management plans have no contract. Stop any month and the site stays yours: we send you the files, hand over the accounts and point the domain wherever you tell us to. If you cancel a build partway through, what's been paid covers the work done to that point and we hand over whatever exists.
When something goes wrong
If we built it and it breaks, we fix it. If a service your site depends on goes down, we'll do what we can and keep you posted, but we can't take responsibility for their outages or for business you lose while something is down. Our responsibility to you is capped at what you've paid us for the work in question.
